Classic Derek Webb

The House Show, aol
Pulling up an oldie-but-goodie, I’m listening today to Derek Webb’s “This World” from his unique offering, 2004’s “The House Show.” Webb’s like no other Christian artist.

Brilliant, passionate, and prophetic, Derek Webb seems, to me anyway, to be a modern day Moses, bringing God's message down from the mountain-top.

After the release of his critically acclaimed solo debut, She Must and Shall Go Free, Webb hit the road and got "up close and personal," plopping on fans' couches and playing hundreds of living room shows. Like I said, not many other artists like Webb. "The House Show" tells the story of those months, and the Dylanesque "This World" represents that time well.

He's got "some tarnish on his Golden rule," and with his customary forceful intelligence, Webb addresses the dichotomy of our natures and the choices offered by this world. It's the age-old problem expressed in the hands of a master, with stark brave truths laid across a bed of acoustic proficiency, and it'll get your week off to a philosophic start. Happy Monday!
