"End of Grey," the debut from hard rockers Decyfer Down, is a smart, bull's eye title for this raw sonic stew, releasing June 6, 2006 from SRE Records.

"End of Grey" is rock evangelism a la P.O.D., and that is some good company. Ferocious guitars and superb drums earn them the right to bring their urgent message of truth. And it's truth squared to the fifth degree, with lead singer Caleb Oliver not backing down even a little bit. In fact, one of the most noteworthy things about these up and coming rockers is the way their music so aptly illustrates the lyrics. The swirling, airy "Here to You" sings of God's love turning the world around, even as its melodic guitars make your head buzz with the globe's rotations. Very effective. The blazing guitar solo midway through "Life Again" only exemplifies the singer's intense desire to strip off all shame. Same with standout track "Burn Back the Sun." The passionate vocals perfectly evoke the intensity of the lyrics.

And make no mistake, these are some intense bold lyrics. The men of Decyfer Down saw enough of the church's failings in their youth to know what they DO and DO NOT want; these desires are the fodder for their zealous, energetic songs. They are doing the church a favor, bringing this kind of bold unpolished truth, and they have created music that fits their message like a glove. I found their neck-snapping beats and urgent lyrics hugely compelling and stirring, and we can only pray the church receive their message in the hard rockin' spirit in which it is delivered. Decyfer Down will get your blood pumping and your mind percolating, just what we need from our rockers.

I totally L.O.V.E this band. I saw them at the Skillet concert on 4-29-08. They are awsome!
