I caught the John Reilly Band’s “Indie-Symphonic-Rock” act last month at a Jeff Deyo concert and fell unexpectedly in love with their sound and their sense of fun.
Out of Philly, they are five pieces of youthful exuberance and extremely sound artistry. Lead singer Reilly is joined by a pair of married fiddlers, Dan & Noele Huie, drummer Kyle Thoman, and bassist Matthew Bomberger. They are touring in support of their 2005 indie release "While I Was on Earth." I like what Reilly has to say about their goals: "The world has enough rock stars. It doesn't need five more. We're seeking to write music that points people to the hope that we've found in Christ. When our head hits the pillow at night, that's what really matters." They have the right attitude and the musical chops to back it up. Their pop sound is somewhat eclectic, and at the same time their live show is lively and colorful enough to be broadly appealing. Definitely catch them if you get the chance; they're well worth hunting down. Click here for tour info.
