"If I find in myself desires nothing in this world can satisfy, then I can only conclude that I was not made for here." - C.S. Lewis Song, Brooke Fraser.

The aptly named C.S. Lewis Song, based on the quote these lyrics were derived from, helps Fraser set the theme for this melodic Christian album, bringing to the fore the revelation that there are indeed desires within the human heart that cannot be satisfied by things of this world.

Albertine by Brooke Fraser

A wonderful follow on from her first album, What to do With Daylight, this second work has strong Christian undertones and shows a wisdom beyond Fraser's years.

Despite not being of this world, Christians are encouraged through the Word to make use of their time here on earth, carrying out good works and sharing the Father’s love. Fraser displays this message in each of her songs, the album title being taken from her song "Albertine"; a tale of one less fortunate than herself; one who needs the love, care and support of those who are more fortunate physically, financially, socially.

“Now that I have seen, I am responsible, faith without deeds is bare.”

Fraser recognises in this song that she can reach people through her music and lyrics, making them aware of the lost and hurting and how they can help, partaking of the Father’s work.

Each song carries a uniquely beautiful melody with lyrics to convict, challenge, uplift and inspire us as children of God.

Seeds of Every Generation

"Seeds" reminds us that there is a generation following that needs to be made aware of God’s sacrificial love, how important they are and be shown how to love like Christ so they in turn can impact upon the generation following them.

Two other songs in this album focus on waiting for the correct timing of love and recognising it’s spark, not being lukewarm or settling for second best but to instead sit patiently until the timing is right and made known.

The melodies in the tracks of Albertine are a joy to listen to with the lyrics affirming that this is indeed one talented artist, who strongly believes in passing on what she has learnt through God’s word and acting on this.

Albertine encourages holding on to the love of Christ, being patient for the good things in life and to help anyone less fortunate. Fraser challenges people to step out of their comfort zone to become the person that God has in mind for them, to make a difference and be aware of those younger than themselves being the next generation that need to be raised up and left with a legacy.

An inspiring album that’s great to listen to and with lyrics to meditate and act on, Albertine is well worth investing in.
