Andrew Peterson is a talented Singer and Songwriter. He is known for his profoundly deep, hearfelt lyrics that glorify God, though not always in the usual radio safe manner. He is also known to not let much grass grow under his feet.
Peterson recently finished recording a new CD, Resurrection Letters Volume II, and his first book, On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness, will be hit the store shelves on March 18. In between touring, making records, writing, not to mention spending time with his family, Peterson was gracious enough to answer a few questions in an exclusive interview with Suite101.
Suite: Rumor has it that you have been working on a new CD. Will that be in our hands, CD players, and iPods soon?
Andrew: (original answer) The new CD is all but ready to go. We're aiming for a March 4 release, but that's not firm yet.

"...So, rather than release this album at break-neck speed for the sake of a relatively short Resurrection Letters tour, we're going to take a step back and really, really think about the best way to release this album..." Go to Andrew Peterson's website for the rest of the statment.
Suite: Is the name of the CD still going to be Resurrection Letters Vol. II? How did you come up with the name?
Andrew: Last year I wrote a series of Easter meditations, one for each day of that week, and someone on my website said something like, "Thanks, Andy, for writing these resurrection letters." I loved the way it sounded. It fit so perfectly with the emerging theme of the songs I was writing; they all dealt in some way or another with resurrection, redemption, new life. Some of the songs also speak of God's revealing of himself to us daily, little windows into his love and goodness that open unexpectedly. I think of these moments as resurrection letters too.
Suite: Is there a Volume 1 in the works?
Andrew: At some point in the making of this record I realized that these songs are about the second half of the story, about the way we're making our way through our lives in light of Christ's great victory. Volume one is going to be a record about that victory. The plan, which I reserve the right to change eighty-seven times, is to write a song for each day of Holy Week. I'm not sure when that record will happen, but calling this one Vol. II pretty much means that I have to write it.
Suite: With this being your 7th studio album, things have obviously changed over the years. How has the recording of this new album been different? What's the good, the bad, and possibly ugly?
Andrew: There was no "ugly", I can tell you that. The musicians I'm able to work with are not only some of the best around, they're dear friends. The process of making an album is fraught with second-guessing, frustration, serendipity, humility and laughter. It's all very dramatic. One big difference is that we documented the making of the album through a series of YouTube videos, and there were days we were having so much fun with the videos that we forgot to work on the record. That was bad. But fun.
