She is currently in production of her first full-length offering with Eb+Flo Records, produced by Monroe Jones, due out this winter. But the five tracks of her self-titled EP sent to Suite have only whetted our appetite, and winter can’t come soon enough for us.
The first fresh strains of opener “Be the Air” bring Ginny Owens to mind; both she and Becki Ryan share the same vocal sweetness, perfect for the lovely melody line of this track. The arrangements on this track and the other four are fresh and crisp, wringing out the full power of the songs, and said power is considerable. Ryan’s passionate delivery contrasts nicely with the airy feel of the piano-driven “Higher.” And the sweeping and dramatic arrangements of “Make a Way” serve to the make its Old Testament story come alive, right down to its tribal flair. The delicate strings of “By Your Wounds” underscore the quiet passion of her worship. Ryan’s warm vocals soar over the majestic closer “Fragrant,” providing a moving wrap-up of this 5 track teaser. The overall effect: the EP leaves us wanting more, more, more of Becki Ryan and her heartfelt worship. Be on the lookout for her full release this winter.
