Beth Moore Presents Songs of Deliverance, Travis Cottrell
Indelible released "Beth Moore Presents: Songs of Deliverance" on Jan. 2, an extension of forthcoming book "Get Out of That Pit: Straight Talk about God's Deliverance."

Produced by Moore’s longtime worship leader and friend Travis Cottrell, the album is everything its straightforward title implies. Ten tracks related to themes of deliverance include familiar songs from Joy Williams, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Amy Grant (her soothing muted rendition of classic hymn, “Softly and Tenderly”), as well as new material from “American Idol” finalist Mandisa, Cottrell himself, and a stunning new song from Sara Groves. Piano-driven “Hiding Place” contains all the usual Groves poignancy and power we’ve come to expect from this superlative artist, and then some. Beginning quietly, the lustrous song declares the Lord our Sanctuary, her pure tones proclaiming His protection and faithfulness, and you find your heart lifting up toward heaven even as the rich strings build to a crescendo of worship. This track, and many of the others, is packed with healing power.

Other standout tracks include Wyonna’s country-flaired pop song, “Rescue Me.” Her warm vocals bounce over the pop beats and the lovely work of an oh-so-soothing cello. “Redeemer” is more upbeat pop from Mandisa, this time with an urban flavor. The excellent-as-always Cece Winans moves things into the area of spiritual warfare with her electrifying funky call-out, “Out My House.”

By the time Paul Baloche closes the album out with his joy-drenched “Because of Your Love,” your spirit cannot help but be uplifted. I haven’t had opportunity to read her book, but Beth Moore and Travis Cottrell certainly have created a project that points to the heavens, delivering fully on the promises of the album’s title.
