The new Centricity Records release from Canadian melodic alt-rockers Downhere, “Wide-Eyed & Mystified,” contains the infectious, upbeat song-of-the-day, “The More.”
The song is fun, but it also contains strong spiritual truth, straight out of 2 Peter 1:5-7. Peter writes about the momentum of our growth in a spiritual, but very practical way, relating it to the level of time and effort we put into it. The amount of growth we experience as believers in Christ is directly proportional to how much we choose to obey him and take on more of his character traits over time. Verse 8 says to possess these qualities (which are also the qualities of Christ) in increasing measure -- starting with a little bit of faith -- so that we can more fully know Jesus. And that ultimately brings us back to the basis of a truly meaningful life: love. Of course. Love is the goal, and true love can only come from knowing Christ. The rockin', melodic music of Downhere contains this practical truth in the midst of its soaring melody line and blistering drums. What a great way to receive the help we need to face the day. Get to know Jesus. Spend time with Him today. And don't forget to listen to Downhere's new "Wide-Eyed & Mystified." As you can see, there's more than just great music.
