Heath Rosborough, Clarity in Heaven
If I tell you that Heath Rosborough sings with Joel Osteen's ministry, does it give you a certain expectation? It may. . . . "Clarity in Heaven" lives up to them all.

Especially if it leads you to expect a package of professionalism, optimism, and a certain physical appearance. I’m just saying. . . the credits listing includes a nod to Veronica Martinez for hair and make-up. But don’t let that dissuade you from giving Heath Rosborough’s “Clarity in Heaven” a listen. His bright style will appeal to many listeners, for many good reasons.

Classically trained, he’s been ministering professionally since childhood, and his teacher’s heart comes across in many of these ten original songs (the gospel tune “It’s My Miracle” and the dramatic title track). His message, like that of his pastor, Joel Osteen, is one of encouragement and positivity, and he’s got the vocal chops to get it across with strength and sincerity. “I Believe” is the most obvious representation of this, with its big splashy drums and choir backup. Rosborough’s vocals morph repeatedly, from the raw power of “I Believe,” to the emotive strains of “You Took My Place,” to the dramaticheights of “Here I Am.” He knows how to reach his audience, whether in ballad mode (“Weep Not My Child”) or going for an edge (the harder rocking “Let Go”). “Clarity in Heaven” has much diversity, and highlights Rosborough’s talents as executive producer as much as his singing/songwriting chops. He and his wife Wendy established Throne Room Records in 2004, to convey the reality of God’s love through music, signing on producer Mark Townsend for this, Rosborough’s Throne Room debut. Townsend makes his presence felt throughout “Clarity in Heaven,” from his lustrous programming touches to his nice sax intro on the standout track, “I’ve Got the Victory,” a jazz-flaired rocker. The project closes out richly with a straight-up worship track, “I Praise Your Name,” soft and lush, the perfect ending.

Together Rosborough, his wife Wendy (credited with co-exec producing, co-writing, and various backup vocals), and producer Townsend have presented an album that will satisfy many listeners who appreciate dramatic and emotive pop-worship.
