Ineloquent: Gravity, Christian indie rock
To put it succinctly, the Iowa-based indie rock band Ineloquent is anything but. Their 5-song EP, "Gravity," is winning on several levels.

Their thoughtful moniker is lifted from Exodus 4. When Moses reminds the Lord that he was not eloquent, God pointed out that it is He Himself who gave him a message worth sharing. This is the position of Ineloquent (Daniel Eakins-vocals/guitars, Georgiana Eakins-vocals, keys, Gregory Tanacea-bass, Chris Peterson-drums, percussion, Pablo Calderon-guitars, percussion, and Luke Gray-piano) as well, and that appealing humility is sprinkled lavishly throughout the songwriting, mostly covered by Daniel Eakins.

The title track opens, atmospheric rock worship that features the strong vocal mix of Daniel and Georgiana Eakins. Its soaring melody line comes across beautifully through the precise, organic instrumentation. “All Ears” is a sweet mix of contrasts, its buzzy electric guitar riffs nicely supporting the soothing vocals of the Eakins duo. “Make Believe” is a well-written, emotionally charged song, although the muddy mixing detracts from its pleasures unfortunately.

“Crow” stands out for its lovely guitars, elegant percussion, and sweet harmonies, and is significant enough to be put on one of our “Ten Great” lists, out soon. A powerful track. The cleverly-written “Green Enough” closes out the project, all too soon. Ineloquent is a band that deserves to be heard, and five songs is just enough to make me want more of their insightful writing and winsome execution. Look for Ineloquent to break out of the cornfields soon.
