A Word From God at a Tori Amos Concert Brings Her Back to Church

Karyn Roy Smith hears a word from God at a Tori Amos concert. This brings her back to the Lord and to a new church. Smith meets some new friends who accept her.

The fifth part of the chat we had with Karyn Roy Smith, we see her come back to God. She hears God’s voice in what some would consider an odd situation, but one that makes sense.

It was at that Tori Amos concert that changed her life. In the midst of that secular concert, she felt the Holy Spirit move in her, God spoke to her.

Smith relates this saying, “In the middle of that concert was a quiet part… And I felt the Holy Spirit speak to me. I was very surprised (laughs). I was like, ‘Whoa, are you here God? I can’t imagine that.’ And He said something like this to me like He spoke to my heart. I believe God speaks. I felt like if this wasn’t the antichrist it probably was the Holy Spirit.

“So He said, ‘This woman is sharing her testimony of her life through this music.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’ And He said and, ‘You’re gonna share your testimony of your life just like her, just like this.’ And I said, ‘Really?’ I’m like raising my eyebrow. He said, ‘Yeah but you will have the thread of redemption in your music and that’s what’s missing from hers.’ And that’s all he said.”

Karyn Roy Smith Makes Her Way Back to Church

With this word from God, Smith made her way back to Him. God led her to a new church home where she could grow and nurture her gift. The Body accepted her in as one their own, even though Smith might have had a rough edge or two.

Smith says, “I ended up going to this new church the Lord lead me too and then I kind of got back on my feet with the Lord… through the people at this new church. I was kind of a pistol. This one woman came up and she met me and she said, ‘I think you have a creative anointing’ and I said, ‘Really?’ So she took me out to lunch, she wanted to meet me. So she brought a few other people from the church and I just was like, I said the F word, and everything to see if they were going to reject me. I was so in that place with the Christian church, Christian Music.”

Try as she might, Smith wasn’t able to run the loving people of this church away. God leads her here, and here she stayed. It wasn’t long after that that God showed His plan for her through others.
