Kim Hill, Broken Pieces
Grammy nominated and Dove winner Kim Hill, once again takes front and center in the Christian music world with her latest release, "Broken Things," out on September 26.

Hill has teamed with 33rd Street Records for the new CD and it will be distributed nationally through the company's distribution division, Bayside Entertainment Distribution.

Hill recorded "Broken Things" in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee with the award winning producer, Paul Ebersold (Third Day, Sister Hazel, Three Doors Down), at the helm of the project. Hill co-wrote five of the eleven songs on the new album and she personally asked some of Christian music's premiere artists/songwriters to also contribute songs for the project. As a result, Mark Lee of Third Day penned with Marc Byrd "Lover Of My Soul" and with Rodney Clawson "Deeper," Margaret Becker co-wrote with Hill, "Wide," Jill Phillips "Blame Somebody Else," Andy Gullahorn contributed two songs "You Don't Belong Here" and with Chad Cates "Here Inside Of Me," and Kate Miner wrote the closing number "Just The Same."

By returning to her folk-rock roots, Hill's "Broken Things" is reminiscent of her 1991 Grammy nominated CD, "Brave Heart." However, the new project leans more to '70s & '80s classic rock with songs that are simply crafted and not overproduced, original modern sounds with retro moments. The track "A Million Pieces" sums up the feeling for the new CD, "She has finally seen the light that He loves broken things/So let all the pieces fall and see what that freedom brings."

And that faith and freedom gives way to the wondrous Grace that brings peace as Hill sings on "Here Inside Of Me," : "It's amazing how the maker of the universe/The one who parts the waters and the sea/Who lives and reigns and watches over all the earth/To make His home right here inside of me."

Hill understands broken things having survived a divorce several years ago which left her as a single mom of two boys, and was a feature cover story last year in Today's Christian Woman. Hill also leads worship at women's conferences all over the country through Every Woman's Hope and ministers to women facing various life struggles, shame, and heartache. Hill has first-hand experience with the brokenness that exists in our society, and within our Christian culture, where people put on a brave front that everything is fine while all the pieces are falling apart.

"Everyone has brokenness in their lives but when we embrace it and turn it over to God then the healing can begin," says Hill. "And the brokenness applies to everyone, not just women, so "Broken Things" is a CD that can be enjoyed by men and even teenagers." And Hill adds, "It was fun to get back to my folk-rock roots so the music could drive the message a little more."
