Anadara Interview, Part 2, Into the Unknown
Spring Hill Worship artist Anadara is ready to take her hard-won 9/11 lessons and other gifts and share them with the artists who come up after her.

Suite continues its conversation with the lively and entertaining Anadara.

Suite: You mentioned that Christy Nockels has mentored you. Can you share a bit about her role in your life? And if you plan on "paying it forward" into another's life?

Anadara: I had long been in awe of the beautiful voice God gave Christy. Through a series of God-orchestrated events, we met up for lunch and that began a friendship

between us. Christy has a heart for other women who are worship leaders and has been gracious and intentional about speaking into my life and offering me encouragement and insight. I have so much respect for her obedient heart and her commitment to pressing into God in all of life.

Another woman who has mentored me is Mary Grace Birkhead (she just published three phenomenal books with Integrity called "Beautifully Pinned Promises," "Pearls from Heaven" and "Teacups Full of Treasures"). She once said that God calls us to reach forward to people with one hand and to reach behind ourselves with the other at the same time.

In other words, as I reach forward to learn and grow from women like Christy and Mary Grace whom God places in my life, He also desires me to reach back and pour my life into younger women. A lot of times we think we don't have anything to pass on, especially the younger we are. However, God is showing me that it's not about how much you think you have to contribute to someone. Truly, God just calls us to be emptied and humble so He can do the work through us. It's an act of love and obedience. I think that's an important concept and hope that throughout my life I will always be intentionally reaching forward and behind to other women.

Suite: OK, OK, those were some heavy questions (laughing). Here's a few lighter ones: What's a song you wish you had written?

Anadara: Just one? This is likely to change on a day to day basis (laughing), but today:

"Be Magnified" by Lynn DeShazo. It's on Kim Hill's "Renewing the Heart" worship album. It's an amazingly honest song of worship. It always readjusts my perspective of who God is and why we worship Him.

Suite: And, if you weren't making music, what do you think you might have an interest in doing?

Anadara: I'd love to be a nurse. I really desire to bring healing to people and believe that God does that through my music. It's probably a good thing He uses my music to accomplish that because I have a weak stomach and don't know what kind of nurse I would be (laughing).

I don't know about that. Talking with Anadara makes me feel better already. Don't forget to pick up "Into the Unknown" this August 29th.
