It's All About Connecting

Stellar Kart, We Can't Stand Sitting Down
Stellar Kart is not afraid to tackle the gritty realities of life in their music, be it depression, suicide, or any other challenge.

As we continue from Part 1 of our interview, lead singer Adam Agee shares the motives behind this willingness.

"We like to deal with issues that either we ourselves faced at a younger age or are dealing with now in our own lives or the lives of friends. But we try to leave with as optimistic impression as possible and give people hope to help them on the other end of what they're going through," Adam reveals. "We're in a position of responsibility, and we've been preparing for the last several years so that we can stand up to the tests and are ready to do the right thing. The whole reason we play our music is to do ministry, to hopefully work in as many kids' lives as possible. And we're all in agreement with that position, or we couldn't work together or stay together."

Adam's voice rings with sincerity as he speaks and it is easy to sense the deep level of commitment these band members share. I asked him about the central message they'd like kids to take away from Stellar Kart's music.

Adam responds immediately and from the heart. "We realize that we can't make it through life on our own. When you come to the realization that you need God, you see that He was actually there when you were going through your tough times. He had a plan to make it better, maybe better now, or maybe better two years from now, but He's in charge. On this new album (see review here)especially we want to acknowledge that that we've given up control of our lives to God."

I comment that the whole time concept is often a hard thing for young people to grasp, and Adam agrees. "It is hard to see, especially if you're feeling beat down and can't see the end or understand why it's happening to you. But we want to tell kids that God will reveal His plan to them, maybe piece by piece. He's saying I'm still here, I see what you're going through. And if we trust Him, He'll show up, He'll do something obvious to reveal Himself and show us where we need to be."

Stellar Kart is a band who is comfortable with their mission. "We're definitely what people would classify as a Christian band. We want to supply music for youth groups and also have our music mean something to the friends they share with who might not go to church. We want to stretch out and reach as many and as universal an audience as possible, and to bring many to Christ," he adds adamantly.

Second album "We Can't Stand Sitting Down" hits the streets on July 25th, continuing the music and the mission. Now the title makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?
