Portland's Steve Sporre offers up his debut indie album, "I'm Ready," a mix of upbeat pop-rock and soulful acoustic worship.
A singer/songwriter and worshipper for twenty years, Sporre has a love for the word, written or spoken, and it shows on this collection of eleven original songs. “I’m Ready” blends up-tempo gentle rockers (the buzzy title track, an expression of devotion and commitment, and the guitar-driven “Just What I Needed”) and slow-burning acoustic worship tracks (the stark arrangements of “Savior” highlighting Sporre’s emotive delivery). Among the latter, “Let Glory Unfold” is a standout, giving Sporre’s passion for words a chance to shine. Its lyrics mix his own devotion with the deep beauty of the Song of Solomon, a very effective track.
Other highlights include the moving alt-rocker, “Enter Me,” a fervent plea for the Lord’s presence. The dramatic “Three in One” contains some old-school rock changes that sizzle brightly as the song builds to a passionate crescendo of worship. “I’m Ready” will serve nicely as your own devotional tool, available on Steve Sporre’s website.
