Following “Nothing is Sound”, Switchfoot is back in the studio, and the San Diego rockers are now offering a previously unreleased song online free of charge.
Switchfoot is working on its next disc, and the free download is a thank-you to fans. Bass player Tim Foreman says, "The new songs are sounding great, and we're hoping to have a new record out before the end of the year." In the meantime, anyone who signs up for Switchfoot's online newsletter will get instant access to the never-before-available track "Daylight To Daybreak." Or just click here. Fans can also check out the Switchfoot studio cam to watch the band working on the new project in California. In other news, Switchfoot appears for the first time ever this month (June 2006) on the cover of CCM magazine. Editor Jay Swartzendruber says, "It's my hope that this cover story will give you a real grasp of who this band is . . . it has to do with the significance of Switchfoot's place in our culture and the way this band can and does influence the way aspiring artists and fans like you and me approach Christianity and the arts." Elsewhere, catch up with Switchfoot through a series of iTunes podcasts, a feature on lead singer Jon Foreman in Surfer Magazine, and a recap of the band's 2nd Annual Bro-Am surf/music event that raised over $20,000 for abused and neglected children last weekend.
