Some of the best-loved, most sung songs in the world have been birthed by the Passion movement, championed by college students and sung by millions each Sunday in worship services throughout the world. The tenth Passion project, "The Best Of Passion [so far]," features 11 of the top 50 and 22 of the top 500 CCLI songs. The two-CD set also includes 10 Top 10 radio hits and six No. 1 songs: “How Great Is Our God,” “Blessed Be Your Name,” “Indescribable,” “All Over The World,” “You Are My King” and “Holy Is The Lord.”
Combining the amazing voices and songwriting of Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, Charlie Hall, Matt Redman and more, all of the tracks were recorded live at Passion gatherings and in front of as many as 40,000 college students at one time. Opening with the never-before released version of David Crowder singing “Come And Listen” from the first night at Passion 06, disc one recaptures glimpses of Passion's early years from Passion '98 in Austin through the 2001 Passion Experience Tour. Disc two opens with songs from OneDay 03 and tracks Passion’s recent history. The disc closes with the project's second new bonus track never before featured on an audio CD: Shelley Nirider singing “Jesus, Lover Of My Soul,” which closed the OneDay gathering in Memphis. The project also includes Chris Tomlin singing “The Wonderful Cross,” formerly only available as an iTunes exclusive.
“As we set out on this Passion journey, recording live worship CDs wasn’t at the top of our priority list,” said Passion founder Louie Giglio. “Honestly, we were all a little stunned, and still are, as the soundtrack of Passion’s wave has continued to circle the globe. While we are symbiotically linked to the songs, our compelling vision stretches beyond music alone as we long to see this collegiate generation – 132 million strong around the globe – awaken to the greatness and goodness of the risen Christ.”
