Filled with hard-rock and metal anthems and power ballads, it’s a heavier, meatier album than their previous self-titled release. Disciple, the foursome from Knoxville, TN, goes for broke with “Scars Remain.” The band incorporates exceptional songwriting with a level of intensity they haven’t displayed in years, while sticking to their rock roots. “I’m screaming as well as singing and the songs are so fun to play,” says singer Kevin Young. “The songs are a lot heavier than anything we’ve done in a while.”
In the rock and metal scene, everyone displays power and volume. Disciple goes beyond that and also displays their eclectic style. From the chugging rhythms and muted licks exploding into a powerful riff of squealing harmonics on the title track to the political statement via head-banging guitars in “Game On” and the rock ballad of “After The World,” complete with acoustic guitars, Disciple leaves no genre omitted.
