In addition, the band’s lead vocalist, Mac Powell, received his first nod for co-writing the hit song, “Mountain of God,” a chart-topping track on "Wherever You Are," with legendary producer Brown Bannister.
“Mountain of God” has maintained its place in the Top 5 on multiple charts since its release on June 23, 2006. Third Day has scored 23 No.1 radio singles, and made history this week by being the first artist to have three songs on the chart in one week, the R&R Monitored Christian AC chart, with “Mountain of God” at No. 9, “Born in Bethlehem,” debuting at No. 17 and “Oh Come All Ye Faithful,” debuting at No. 29.
Tai Anderson, Third Day’s bass player, notes, “I’m really overwhelmed by the support of the industry and fans, throughout our career. It’s amazing to have the privilege to make a living doing something you love. Receiving an honor like this is both humbling and exciting.”
“When we recorded ‘Mountain of God,’ we never imagined it would be recognized with a GRAMMY nomination,” comments Mac Powell. “I’m incredibly humbled by all of this. This song is really special. In concert it’s become a crowd favorite; we just love playing it live – it really connects.”
Recently releasing its first Christmas worship album, "Christmas Offerings," and wrapping up a successful headlining tour on Nov. 19, the band is excited about heading into 2007 with such strong momentum.
